President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has emphasised the prime necessity of further boosting co-operation among BRICS member and partner states to address global economic challenges, enhance resilience and promote inclusive and sustainable growth.

President Sisi made the remarks on Sunday during the opening session and working lunch for leaders of BRICS member and partner countries, themed “Resilience, Innovation, Co-operation and Sustainability: Shaping the Future of Inclusive Global Growth,” Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed el-Shennawy said.

Sisi highlighted the need to expand co-operation in innovation, AI, energy, food security, transport, logistics, technology and investment, urging broader  access for developing countries to financing and technology.

The session serves as a vital platform for exchanging perspectives between BRICS member states and partner countries on addressing current global challenges, leveraging potential opportunities, and fostering closer co-operation to achieve more inclusive and sustainable growth.

Egypt commends India’s efforts to advance co-operation among BRICS member states and its partners, and to realise shared priorities during its presidency of the group, Sisi told the session.

“The accelerating shifts and prevailing challenges confronting the global economy underscore the inevitability of cultivating resilient economic models by diversifying growth drivers, reinforcing supply chains, investing in human capital and technology, and broadening the scope of South-South co-operation,” he added.

To this end, Egypt places high priority on collaboration in innovation, artificial intelligence, and technology transfer and localisation, thereby enabling our countries to fully leverage technological transformations and empower youth to drive the economy of the future,” Sisi noted.

Meanwhile, Sisi said that sustainability holds particular significance, given the acute challenges related to energy, food, and water security, as well as climate change.

“In this context, Egypt firmly believes in the necessity of expanding co-operation in clean and renewable energy, advancing resource efficiency, and facilitating developing nations’ access to the necessary financing and technological solutions required for transitioning toward more sustainable economies, while fully respecting differing national circumstances and priorities.

Within this framework, Cairo hosted the Egypt Petroleum Show (EGYPS 2026) earlier this year, offering an essential platform for fostering partnerships and investments, as well as sharing expertise in energy, innovation, and related technologies.

Sisi added that Egypt also “places dedicated emphasis on sustainable infrastructure, transport networks, and logistics.”

Over the past years, Egypt has undertaken a comprehensive expansion of its ports, transit corridors, and transport networks, thereby elevating trade efficiency, accelerating the green transition in maritime transport, and reinforcing regional integration, he Egyptian leader said.

The Suez Canal sits at the heart of this architecture as one of the most vital arteries of global trade, entrusting Egypt with a pivotal role in supporting supply chain stability and fostering the efficiency and sustainability of global trade flow, he added.

President Sisi stressed that economic resilience “remains inextricably bound to our collective capacity to safeguard food and energy security, ensure the seamless flow of trade and investment, and effectively navigate global supply chain volatility”.

Consequently, Egypt affirms the necessity of sustained action to scale up trade and investment flows among BRICS nations and their partner countries, while promoting joint ventures to fortify economic integration and mitigate the impact of external shocks.

“We also place high priority on strengthening the vital role of development finance institutions, chief among them the New Development Bank, in mobilising the necessary funding for infrastructure projects and broader development initiatives, while expanding the capacity of developing nations to access concessional financing,” he said.

“The ultimate measure of our partnership’s success depends not merely on aligning our priorities, but on transforming them into impactful projects, strategic investments, and tangible partnerships,” he said.

Sisi reiterated Egypt’s “steadfast commitment to working alongside BRICS member states and partner nations, drawing upon its capabilities and unique strategic geographic location to foster deeper collaboration in energy, food, transport, logistics, technology, and investment, thus building a more integrated and resilient partnership.”

Through the rich diversity of its members and partners, BRICS holds a profound opportunity to shape a practical model for South-South co-operation; one grounded in resilience, innovation, collaboration, and sustainability that yields actionable programmes for the enduring prosperity of our peoples, the president noted.
