Abu Dhabi, UAE – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan convened in Abu Dhabi today, emphasizing the critical need for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and an exchange of captives and detainees.

President Sisi was received by the UAE President at Abu Dhabi International Airport, followed by a meeting at Qasr Al Shatie.

The discussions focused on bolstering the strong bilateral relations between Egypt and the UAE, exploring avenues to enhance economic, trade, and investment cooperation for the mutual benefit of their nations and peoples.

According to Presidency Spokesman Mohamed El Shennawy, the leaders extensively discussed regional developments and strategies to restore security and stability across the Middle East.

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed specifically lauded Egypt’s continuous mediation efforts since the onset of the Gaza crisis, aimed at securing a ceasefire, protecting the Palestinian people, and alleviating their severe humanitarian suffering.

Both leaders unequivocally affirmed the imperative of delivering adequate and unimpeded humanitarian aid to Gaza to avert a catastrophic humanitarian situation. They also reiterated the urgency of pursuing the two-state solution as the sole viable path to achieving lasting peace and comprehensive stability in the region.

Beyond Gaza, the meeting addressed the situations in Lebanon, Syria, Sudan, Libya, Yemen, and Somalia, alongside other pressing regional developments.

President Sisi and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed underscored the paramount importance of safeguarding the security and sovereignty of these nations, thereby enabling their populations to achieve stability and prosperity.
