President Abdel Fattah El Sisi held phone talks on Tuesday with Tunisian President Kais Saied as part of ongoing co-ordination between the two countries.

President Sisi congratulated Tunisia’s leadership and people on the 69th anniversary of the proclamation of the Tunisian Republic. He highlighted the solid fraternal ties between the two countries, based on shared history and longstanding bonds between their peoples, Presidency Spokesman Mohamed el-Shennawy said.

President Sisi noted that this year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Egypt and Tunisia.

The president reaffirmed Egypt’s solidarity with Tunisia in confronting the wildfires that affected parts of the country and voiced full readiness to provide any necessary assistance.

He also stressed Egypt’s commitment to boosting bilateral co-operation and implementing the outcomes of the Joint Higher Committee and the existing co-operation mechanisms to translate the current political momentum into tangible benefits for both peoples, Spokesman el-Shennawy added.

For his part, President Saied voiced appreciation for President Sisi’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations and enhancing political consultation and co-ordination at all levels.

Saied congratulated President Sisi and the Egyptian people on the 74th anniversary of the 23rd July Revolution.

Meanwhile, the Tunisian President reviewed his country’s efforts to contain the wildfires and safeguard lives, property and national assets, expressing his gratitude for Egypt’s solidarity and support.

The two leaders exchanged views on regional and international developments of mutual concern, as President Sisi warned of the gravity of the current regional situation amid renewed tensions, warning against the consequences of a return to wider escalation and outlining Egypt’s efforts to bridge differences between the parties concerned, the spokesman noted.

The two presidents stressed the importance of prioritising political and diplomatic solutions, working to de-escalate tensions and prevent the expansion of regional crises in order to preserve regional peace and stability.

They also agreed on the need to strengthen co-ordination and consultation between Egypt and Tunisia in addressing shared regional challenges.
