President Abdel Fattah El Sisi emphasized that the stability of Libya is an integral part of Egypt’s national security.

He explained that Egypt is exerting its utmost efforts, in coordination with Libyan parties and the General Command of the Libyan Army, to support security and stability in Libya, preserve its unity and sovereignty, and restore its development path.

He affirmed Egypt’s full support for all initiatives aimed at achieving these objectives.

The president’s remarks came while receiving Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army Khalifa Haftar in El-Alamein City on Monday.

Presidential Spokesman Mohamed el-Shennawy stated that the meeting reaffirmed the special fraternal relationship between Egypt and Libya.

Shennawy said that president Sisi also expressed Egypt’s keenness to preserve the unity and cohesion of Libya’s state institutions,” stressing the importance of enhancing coordination among all Libyan parties to develop a comprehensive political roadmap that would pave the way for simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections.

He emphasized the need to confront foreign interference and to work toward the withdrawal of all foreign forces and mercenaries from Libyan territory.

The spokesman added that president Sisi expressed Egypt’s appreciation for the national role played by the Libyan National Army in combating terrorism, which contributed to eliminating terrorist organizations in eastern Libya.

For his part, Haftar expressed deep appreciation for Egypt’s pivotal role in restoring security and stability in Libya.

He praised Egypt’s continuous efforts in supporting the Libyan people since the outbreak of the crisis, in the context of the historic ties between the two brotherly nations.

Haftar also valued Egypt’s effective contribution in transferring its development experience to Libya and utilizing the expertise of leading Egyptian companies.

He affirmed continued efforts to overcome challenges in a way that fulfills the Libyan people’s aspirations for stability and prosperity.
