Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Tuesday emphasised the importance of encouraging the Sudanese parties to consolidate and move to a comprehensive and permanent ceasefire, allowing the delivery of humanitarian aid and relief and paving the way for constructive dialogue.
The President made such remarks as he received on Tuesday South Sudan’s presidential advisor on security affairs Tutkew Gatluak in the presence of Head of the General Intelligence Service Abbas Kamel, Presidency Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said.
During the meeting, the President said that these efforts come with a view to resolving differences and settling the crisis and then completing the transitional path and the political process in a manner that preserves the unity and cohesion of the state, achieves the aspirations of the Sudanese people and safeguards their higher interests.
The President also asserted the seriousness of the challenges facing Sudan at the humanitarian, security and political levels.
For his part, Gatluak handed President Sisi a message from South Sudanese President Salva Kiir on ways to enhance the distinguished bilateral relations between the two countries, in addition to reviewing developments in the situation in Sudan and consulting on efforts to settle the crisis in order to preserve the safety and security of the brotherly Sudanese people.
