Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi reiterated on Thursday the State’s keenness on addressing problems and crises facing citizens through adopting temporary solutions that take into consideration current conditions then finding radical solutions to those crises to avoid their recurrence in the future.

He directed exerting utmost efforts to contain the current conditions and ease burdens on citizens as quickly as possible as well as optimizing benefits of power and energy projects to provide necessary resources in light of the difficult effects of the current economic and political turbulences worldwide.

Sisi made the remarks during a meeting with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli in the presence of Electricity and Renewable Energy Minister Mohamed Shakler and Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Tarek el Molla.

Sisi called for diversifying energy resources through increasing the supply of electricity generated from renewable sources in partnership with the private sector and international energy industry heavyweights.

Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmi said the meeting comes as part of the president’s continued follow up of efforts exerted to secure citizens’ needs, especially in the electricity domain, to avoid power cuts.

President Sisi followed up all measures taken by the government, whether to overcome the power cut crisis or to avoid its recurrence in the future.

Participants made clear that from the first moment there was full coordination between the ministries of electricity and petroleum to provide the fuel needed to operate power stations and enable them to continue their work in light of the unprecedented rise in temperatures which has required much larger quantities of fuel to maintain the production capacities of the stations at a time global demand on fuel is on the rise, forcing the government to adopt a temporary policy to reduce loads on the national power grid.
