OSLO – Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has invited Norwegian foreign direct investments (FDIs) to the Egyptian market, which provides many opportunities in various vital sectors of common importance.

This came in Sisi’s speech during his participation Monday in a dinner banquet with the Crown Prince of Norway and the Minister of International Development, in the presence of senior officials of Norwegian companies and economic and investment funds, within the framework of the official visit the president is making to Norway as part of his current European tour.

Sisi said: “The Egyptian government has adopted an ambitious plan to improve the investment climate and enhance the role of the private sector in leading economic development by providing incentives and facilities for foreign investors and overcoming any obstacles they may face.”

He praised the agreement of visions witnessed in his discussions on Monday with the King of Norway, the Prime Minister, the Speaker of Parliament, and the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.

“During all my meetings, I was keen to address the importance of enhancing economic and investment cooperation between the two countries,” said the president.

“From this standpoint, I call on all Norwegian companies and investment funds to enhance their presence in the Egyptian market and build on the existing successes, especially in cooperation between a number of major Norwegian companies and the Egyptian side,” he added.

“Perhaps our meeting today represents an important opportunity to learn about your vision to increase Norwegian investments in Egypt and take executive steps to achieve it,” Sisi said, wishing that his visit contribute to further deepening of the Egyptian-Norwegian relations at various levels.

He also wished the Norwegians a Merry Christmas.
