Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi reviewed the latest developments of the technical developments and upgrade of the judicial system especially in terms of the use artificial intelligence (AI). He also discussed efforts to settle the backlogged lawsuits, and the preparation of the national legislative database.

During his meeting, Minister of Justice Omar Marwan on Sunday , the president also reviewed the Ministry’s national legislative database as issued by the Higher Committee for Legislative Reform, which covers all republican decrees, laws, state and cabinet resolutions, as well as all the international agreements issued until 2021, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.

President Sisi directed the Minister of Justice to study all means to make the database available to allrelevant ministries and other government bodies, as well as those interested in legal affairs, Radi added.

President Sisi also followed up the ministry’s efforts to settle the backlogged lawsuits at all civilian and family courts.

Civilian lawsuits being handled by courts before 2020, constitute 12 per cent of the total cases until January 1, 2020. Lawsuits at the family courts before 2021 formed 3.5 per cent of the total ones until January 1, 2021.

President Sisi directed that an integrated plan be drawn up to settle all these lawsuits during the current legal year, Spokesman Radi said.

Meanwhile, Minister Marwan reviewed the ministry’s efforts to reduce divorce cases, in co-operation with the ministry of Awqaf (Religious Endowments) and Dar al-Ifta. This is being sought through honing social and professional skills of marriage officials, to make sure divorce has occurred, after trying hard to reach reconciliations before the separation is documented.

President Sisi was also briefed on the latest developments of the technical development and upgrade of the judiciary system, especially through the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), in addition to the executive situation of the establishment of the justice city at the New Administrative Capital, Radi said.

The President was also offered an account regarding the implementation of the decision regarding the inclusion of woman in appointments at the State Council and Public Prosecution at the beginning of the career ladder.
