President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Tuesday received a delegation from the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organisations, led by Chairwoman Elizabeth Berns Korn and Chief Executive Officer William Daroff.
During the meeting, which was attended by Head of the General Intelligence Service, Major General Hassan Rashad, President Sisi voiced Egypt’s appreciation for its strategic relationship with the US.
He also highlighted the importance of close co-ordination and consultation between the two countries in promoting peace and stability in the Middle East and addressing shared challenges, particularly terrorism and extremist ideology, Presidency Spokesman Mohamed el-Shennawy said.
The president also stressed the need to carry on with advancing Egyptian-American relations across political, economic, and investment fields.
For their part, the visiting delegation highly appreciated the opportunity to visit Egypt and the meeting with President Sisi, Spokesman el-Shennawy added.
They also commended the strategic partnership between Egypt and the United States and commended Egypt’s efforts to preserve peace and stability in the Middle East.
The meeting reviewed the overall regional situation, with delegation members listening to President Sisi’s vision for achieving regional stability.
President Sisi highlighted Egypt’s efforts aiming to reduce current tensions, and support the ongoing negotiations between the US and Iran to resolve the present crisis, as well as preventing its political and economic repercussions from affecting the region and the wider world.
The president also stressed the importance of concluding a comprehensive and just settlement of the Palestinian cause in accordance with international legitimacy and based on the two-state solution, which the Egyptian leader referred to as “the only path to achieve lasting peace and stability in the Middle East, given the central importance of the Palestinian cause to the Arab world”.
The delegation lauded President Sisi’s vision for regional stability and reaffirmed the importance of Egyptian-American relations and the close co-ordination between the two countries in maintaining regional peace, el-Shennawy said.
