Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi underscored the imperative of sustained collaboration with Bahrain to address the prevailing regional challenges, and expressed profound appreciation for the efforts and policies of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain, emphasising the importance of the ongoing cooperation between the two countries across diverse spheres, particularly amidst the complexities confronting the region.

President Sisi made these remarks during his meeting yesterday with Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s National Security Advisor, Commander of the Royal Guardand Secretary-General of the Supreme Defence Council of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the accompanying delegation. The meeting was attended by Head of the General Intelligence Services Major General Abbas Kamel, said Presidency Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy.

He added that Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa conveyed a verbal message to PresidentSisi from the Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, underscoring appreciation of the historical relations between the two countries and their peoples.

The message also confirmed Bahrain’s position in support of Egypt and President Sisi’s efforts to address all domestic and foreign challenges, primarily at the regional level.

President El-Sisi expressed Egypt’s enormous appreciation for King Hamad’s efforts and policies. The President emphasised the two countries’ persistent joint action to further strengthen their historical and solid relations and to forge closer cooperation across all spheres so as to cater for the aspirations of the two peoples, notably in light of the current challenges in the region.

The meeting also discussed the situation in the Gaza Strip and Egypt’s efforts toward restoring calm in the Strip. There was an agreement on the vital importance of an immediate ceasefire and on ensuring the flow of critically-needed humanitarian assistance and relief in sufficient quantities and urgently to the enclave.

Furthermore, the meeting emphasized the paramount importance of de-escalating tensions in the region and averting the expansion of conflict, given the grave repercussions such escalation would have on regional stability.

Sheikh Nasser also commended Egypt’s efforts in the Gaza crisis, particularly the aid airlift on northern Gaza.
