President Abdel Fattah El Sisi visited Bahrain on Tuesday, to reaffirm Egypt’s full solidarity with the kingdom amid the current regional situation, following his visit to Qatar earlier today.
Bahrain’s Monarch, King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, received President Sisi upon his arrival in Manama, where the two leaders held talks on regional developments and efforts to preserve stability.
President Sisi reiterated Egypt’s unwavering support for Bahrain’s security and stability, condemning what he described as the “unjustified attacks” on Bahraini territory as a flagrant violation of international law and a dangerous escalation threatening regional security, Presidency Spokesman Mohamed El-Shannawy, said.
The president also reaffirmed Egypt’s rejection of any attempts to undermine the security of Bahrain, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states or other Arab countries, and stressed that “Arab security is an integral part of Egypt’s national security”, El-Shennawy added.
In addition, the president lauded Bahrain’s leadership for its role in maintaining regional stability and underlined Egypt’s commitment to easing tensions and resolving regional crises through peaceful means.
For his part, King Hamad welcomed the visit, and voiced appreciation for Egypt’s continued support for Bahrain and the GCC.
The two leaders agreed on the importance of maintaining close consultation and co-ordination to help reduce regional tensions and restore stability.
