Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received on Saturday, at al Ittihadiya Presidential Palace, Pakistani Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir in the presence of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production Abdel Meguid Saqr and Pakistani Ambassador Aamer Shaukat.

Presidential Spokesman Mohamed el Shennawy said that the president expressed his appreciation for the remarkable progress in the Egyptian-Pakistani relations during the current phase, reaffirming Egypt’s keenness to continue strengthening bilateral cooperation and advancing it across various fields to serve the mutual interests of both peoples and contribute to promoting development and prosperity in the two countries.

Shennawy added that the Pakistani army chief conveyed to President Sisi the greetings of Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praising Egypt’s pivotal role in promoting calm and stability in the Middle East.

He congratulated the president on the successful conclusion of the Sharm El Sheikh Peace Summit, which witnessed the signing of the agreement to end the war in the Gaza Strip, commending Egypt’s tireless efforts to end the humanitarian catastrophe in the enclave, Shennawy said.

Shennawy noted that the meeting also addressed ways to enhance regional peace and security in both the Middle East and South Asia, with both sides emphasizing the importance of intensifying consultations between Egypt and Pakistan to prevent escalation and confront shared challenges.

The talks also explored prospects for cooperation in combating terrorism and extremism, he said.
