Minister of Local Development Mahmoud Shaarawi held a meeting Friday with a host of governors and officials of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces to discuss preparations for the implementation of the Rural Development project.
Shaarawi said President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi had issued directives for completing the studies, designs and field coordination of the project quickly in preparation for its actual implementation.
He noted that the initial phase of the project implementation would include providing them with the necessary infrastructure, such as sewage networks.
The same phase will include the renewal of drinking water networks, delivering natural gas pipelines to the villages and providing them with communication networks, the minister said.
He added that this would happen simultaneously with the construction of government service centers in the villages as well as schools, clinics and youth centers.
The project, Minister Shaarawi said, is very important because it will affect the lives of tens of millions of people.
“The project also enjoys close supervision by President Sisi,” he added.
The Minister of Local Development noted that Prime Minister also follows progress on the project on a daily basis.
He underscored the importance of speeding up the pace of the implementation of the project so that citizens can see results on the ground.
Minister Shaarawi said he had issued directives to all governors to offer all the necessary facilities to the companies implementing the project, including through giving them the necessary permissions and finalizing paperwork quickly.
He said he would make tours of some of the villages targeted in the first phase of the Rural Development project in the coming period.
