Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has issued directives to finalize furnishing the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) using the latest standards to reflect the magnitude and uniqueness of the ancient Egyptian civilization.
The president gave the order at a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, Tourism and Antiquities Minister Khaled el Anani, Housing Minister Assem el Gazzar, Local Development Minister Mahmoud Shaarawi and Giza Governor Ahmed Rashed.
President Sisi also ordered revamping all buildings surrounding the museum to reflect its value as the biggest museum in the world.
The meeting followed up on the executive status of the project and its completion rate, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said.
Anani reviewed the work progress at the museum, as well as efforts to record, document and preserve all its antiquities.
