President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met on Sunday with Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian in New Delhi, India, on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit.
President Sisi emphasised Egypt’s unwavering support for efforts aiming to restore stability in the region, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy said.
Sisi also stressed that Egypt looked to Iran to exert all possible efforts to de-escalate tensions and reach a comprehensive, sustainable and peaceful settlement to the crisis, thereby safeguarding the sovereignty of the region’s countries and protecting the resources of their people, El-Shennawy added.
In addition, the Egyptian leader underlined the inevitability of halting all aggression against Arab states, in order to uphold the principles of good neighbourliness and strengthen the historical and cultural ties that bind the peoples of the region, the spokesman noted.
