On the sidelines of the meeting, President Sisi held talks with French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Romanian President Nicusor Dan, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin and Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Al-Budaiwi.

Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy said that the Arab-EU consultative meeting addressed the latest developments in the Middle East and ways to de-escalate current tensions and restore regional and international peace and stability.

The spokesperson added that the meeting opened with remarks by European Council President Antonio Costa, President of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, who welcomed the participating leaders and stressed the importance of continued consultation between countries of the region and the European bloc to maintain security and stability.

The spokesman stated the participating leaders also discussed the updates on a number of regional and international issues, as well as means of settling ongoing conflicts in the region, in addition to opportunities to enhance cooperation across the Mediterranean to achieve shared development and prosperity.

President Sisi stressed that any agreements reached must be fair and balanced, calling for taking into account the concerns of all parties, particularly the concerns of Arab states, in dealing with the issues of Iran, Syria and Lebanon.

The president also underlined that any deal on Iran should address the security concerns of Arab Gulf states
