Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and King Abdullah II of Jordan reiterated their categorical rejection of any attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians from their lands. They called for unified international efforts to achieve a fair and comprehensive resolution to the Palestinian issue based on the two-state solution, ensuring the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state along the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

These remarks came during President Sisi’s meeting in Jordan on Tuesday with King Abdullah II on the sidelines of the International Conference for Emergency Humanitarian Response in Gaza.

Spokesman for the Presidency, Ahmed Fahmy, said the two leaders underscored the robust, deep, longstanding and historical relations between the two countries. They expressed appreciation for the alignment between Egypt and Jordan and their ongoing coordination on regional and international issues.

During the meeting, President Sisi and King Abdullah II agreed on the importance of continuing coordination and consultations with regard to developments in the Gaza Strip, which was embodied in their joint call to convene the International Conference for Emergency Humanitarian Response in Gaza. This call was grounded in the two leaders’ firm belief in the vital need for immediate and urgent action to mobilise international efforts to address the massive and dire humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in the enclave.

The two leaders warned against the perilous repercussions of the ongoing Israeli military operations and emphasised the imperative need to reach an immediate and permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and to protect civilians.
