Minister of Parliamentary and Legal Affairs and Political Communication Mahmoud Fawzi asserted that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi is keen to ensure that all issued legislations are integrated and effective.
He pointed out that the new Code of Criminal Procedure represents a qualitative leap in the Egyptian justice system in terms of protecting rights and freedoms and enhancing timely justice.
In a phone call with Al-Hayat TV Wednesday evening, he said that the president’s approval of the Code of Criminal Procedure reflects the extent of integration and harmony among state institutions.
He added that the president’s signing of laws is not a mere formality or symbolic act but is always preceded by careful review and comprehensive examination with the aim of achieving the supreme interest of the country and its citizens.
The new code will go into effect as of October 1, 2026.
