Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi arrived safely at Larnaka International Airport on Friday at the start of his visit to Cyprus, where he will participate in a consultative meeting bringing together leaders from several Arab states alongside countries and institutions of the European Union.
Upon arrival, President Sisi was received by Michael Damianos, Cypriot Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry, along with Egypt’s Ambassador to Cyprus Mohamed Zaazou and members of the Egyptian Embassy in Nicosia.
At the invitation of Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides and European Council President António Costa, the summit will focus on discussing current geopolitical developments and key regional and international issues.
The meeting is part of ongoing consultations between regional countries and the EU to discuss current geopolitical developments and key regional and international issues, Presidency Spokesman Mohamed el-Shennawy said.
President Sisi is expected to deliver a speech outlining Egypt’s vision for easing tensions, promoting stability, and strengthening co-operation between countries in the region and the European Union, el-Shennawy said.
He added that the president will also hold a number of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the gathering.
