President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan have called for stronger private sector engagement to accelerate economic co-operation and expand investment partnerships between Egypt and Tanzania.

The two leaders attended the closing session of the Egypt-Tanzania Business Forum in Dar es Salaam on Saturday, held as part of President Sisi’s official visit to Tanzania.

The forum brought together more than 35 Egyptian business leaders and around 120 Tanzanian business representatives, highlighting the growing momentum in economic relations between the two countries.

Addressing the gathering, President Sisi expressed his pleasure at visiting Tanzania and praised the Egyptian and Tanzanian business communities for their important role in strengthening bilateral ties. He said their efforts reflected the depth of the historic relationship between the two countries and their shared interests.

The president highlighted the positive results of discussions held between the two sides, particularly in trade and investment. He expressed hope that the agreements reached during the forum would soon translate into practical projects and tangible partnerships.

He referred to the signing of two memoranda of understanding between ministers from both countries, as well as agreements to move forward with joint projects in agriculture and livestock development.

President Sisi stressed the importance of continued co-ordination with the Tanzanian side to follow up on agreed initiatives and establish clear mechanisms to turn proposals into concrete development projects.

He also highlighted promising areas for future co-operation, including port development, maritime and railway links, logistics zones, roads and infrastructure.

Such projects, he said, would help facilitate trade flows, improve the movement of goods and maximise Tanzania’s strategic position as a gateway to regional markets.

The president added that Egypt and Tanzania had agreed to strengthen co-operation in science, technology and the exchange of expertise, supporting economic integration and sustainable development.

President Sisi underscored the private sector’s key role in advancing investment ties. He directed relevant authorities to closely monitor agreed projects, remove any obstacles and provide the necessary support to ensure that the forum’s outcomes lead to real investments and sustainable development partnerships.

He stressed that Egypt-Tanzania economic relations were built on strong foundations and promising opportunities, expressing confidence that businesses in both countries could develop value-added projects, open new markets and contribute to the prosperity of the Egyptian and Tanzanian peoples.

Representatives of the two business communities welcomed efforts to deepen economic co-operation, voicing their commitment to expanding existing projects and exploring new investment opportunities across various sectors.

They also stressed the importance of promoting communication and partnerships between Egyptian and Tanzanian companies to take bilateral economic relations to new levels and maximise mutual benefits.
