Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi greeted the nation’s workers Saturday, expressing appreciation for their continual efforts.
In a televised speech, marking the national Workers’ Day, the president described the efforts made by the nation’s workers for the development of their country as “distinguished”.
“I send greetings to your efforts which are pushing Egypt’s development and production ahead,” President Sisi said. “These efforts are a cornerstone for the creation of the present and the future of our dear country.”
Workers’ Day is a national holiday in Egypt. It is a day for the nation’s millions of workers to feel appreciated for the sacrifices they make for the nation’s factories to keep operating, farmland to keep producing food and all production sites to keep working.
The president said in his speech Egyptians have a right to celebrate this day. Over the past years, he said, and since Egyptians started this struggle for development, the workers set the brightest example for the appreciation of work.
The president added that the nation’s workers did this in order to keep their country dignified.
“They did this, despite all the major challenges we faced on the road,” President Sisi said.
He said the repeated achievements made in Egypt in the past period and the megaprojects implemented therein bore witness to the strong will and resolve of Egyptian workers.
He said Egyptian workers wanted to change realities in their country and move forward on the road to creating a better future.
This proved to everybody, the president added, that Egypt is moving forward with resolve to ensure a descent life to all its citizens, in a society where justice prevails and equal opportunities are given to everybody.
President Sisi noted that fast-paced changes in work methods and production tools give Egypt and Egyptians a good chance for competition.
He highlighted the importance of continued training to hone the skills of the nation’s workers.
“We need to keep abreast of the experiences of other nations,” the president said. “We also need to have the will to reform and modernise ourselves.”
He added that this reform and this modernisation would allow Egyptians to unleash their real capabilities and contribute positively to the progress of human civilisation.
“I assure you today that those who want to carve a niche for themselves in this modern age have to perfect their work to the full,” President Sisi said.
He stressed the importance of workers having the highest levels of efficiency and dedication at work to accommodate the quantum leap witnessed by the world in innovation, technology, artificial intelligence and mechanisation.
“They have to move hand in hand with the enormous information revolution taking place around the world,” the president said.
