Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi emphasized the importance of continued cooperation and coordination between the relevant authorities to ensure that the inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) is organized in a manner befitting Egypt’s position, reflecting its leadership in the field of museums and global culture, and contributing to the promotion of tourism in the country.

President Sisi also stressed that the celebration will not only reflect the grandeur of this global edifice, but also highlight the level of achievement and progress Egypt is witnessing in various fields, in a manner that aligns with the country’s cultural position on the world stage.

This came during a meeting on Saturday with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathi along with Mohamed el Saadi, the board member of the United Media Services Company and the General Supervisor of the Grand Egyptian Museum’s opening ceremony.

The meeting also discussed the status of ongoing projects to develop the area surrounding the museum, as part of the preparations for the opening.

Presidential Spokesperson Mohamed el Shennawy said that during the meeting, President Sisi followed up on the preparations for the grand event scheduled to take place on the opening day of the museum on November 1.

The minister of tourism reviewed preparations being coordinated between various ministries and relevant bodies, covering logistical aspects, proposed activities of the event, and related organizational arrangements.

The spokesperson also noted that the meeting reviewed several other issues related to the work of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, with President El Sisi being briefed on the latest developments in the plans to upgrade the tourism sector.
