Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi followed up on Tuesday on a plan to develop the northwestern part of the country, extending from Alexandria to Salloum with the aim of establishing a series of large urban, agricultural, industrial and tourist communities through several giant developmental projects that are underway in that geographical spot.
The President’s remarks came during his meeting with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Minister of Defense Mohamed Zaki, Chief of Staff Mohamed Farid as well as a host of ministers and top government officials in New Alamein City, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.
The President performed the Eid al-Adha prayer in El-Alamein City on Tuesday morning and then followed up on the executive and construction position of the Arts City in the New El Alamein City and listened to a detailed explanation from the housing minister about the workflow and implementation rates for the facilities of the Arts City.
The city is a cultural entertainment outlet for the city of El Alamein and the northern coast spanning an area of 260 acres. It includes a range of diverse artistic and cultural activities, including movie theater complexes, restaurants, an open Roman theater for concerts and musical performances, equipped with the latest sound technologies, an opera building, in addition to training halls and exhibition grounds.
During his meeting with the officials, the President also called for linking such developmental projects with a network of advanced roads, modern means of transportation and new railways.
He added that at the forefront of these projects is the gigantic national project for integrated agricultural production, “The New Delta”, which aims to increase the agricultural area in Egypt along El-Dabaa axis by one million acres in its early stages.
The project includes several agricultural development projects, including the Egypt’s Future project, the Dabaa nuclear plant project, El Alamein International Airport, Ras Al-Hikma city and the tourist resorts extending to Matrouh Governorate.
The President was also briefed on the development of the new road network for the northwestern geographical sector and the axes of connection between these projects as well as with the rest of the governorates, including the development of the Cairo-Alexandria desert roads, the Dabaa axis, the reconstruction axis, the coastal international road, and the Wadi Al-Natroun-Al-Alamein road.
The President directed that the process of developing these axes and roads take into account the largest possible expansion and the number of traffic lanes and the establishment of service centers and gas stations to serve the citizens and to accommodate the expected traffic.
