Egypt’s President Abd El Fattah El Sisi on Wednesday presided over a meeting to follow up on the provision of the necessary facilities and services for a host of major agricultural development projects across the nation, with focus on electricity, water and irrigation sectors.

Discussions mainly addressed the Egypt’s Future Project in the New Delta as well as agricultural development projects in Fayoum, Minya and Beni Sueif, “SanabelSono” project in Aswan, and the Dakhla project in Southern Egypt, Presidency Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said.

These projects are part of state keenness to provide high-quality agricultural products to the local market, at affordable prices, as well as increasing exports to foreign markets, Fahmy added.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sweilum, President’s Advisor on Urban Planning Maj Gen Amir Sayed Ahmed, Head of the Amed Forces Engineering Authority Maj Gen Ahmed elAzazi, and Executive Director of the Future of Egypt for Sustainable Development Authority Colonel Bahaa el Ghannam.

President Sisi gave directives to continue and boost efforts to benefit from the successes realised by the projects, in a manner likely to contribute to achieving the state’s strategic objectives, namely promoting the agricultural sector, and increasing the cultivated areas, with the aim of ensuring food security and protecting it against international fluctuations, as well as bolstering the growth of national income, Spokesman Fahmy noted.
