Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has expressed support of French President Emmanuel Macron’s call for building a more equitable and sustainable world, following the conclusion of the landmark summit that France hosted last week to consider a new pact for global finance, Presidency Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said on Monday.

‏President Sisi took part in the summit where he spoke to a roundtable discussion on Thursday and the concluding session on Friday. Addressing the latter event, the Egyptian leader asserted that partnership and co-operation constitute a link between developed and developing countries that seek to achieve further progress and growth.

‏In a message to leaders participating in the New Global Financing Pact Summit, President Sisi urged rich and developed countries, which possess the technology and knowledge, to shoulder the responsibility towards others, which do not possess this technology.

‏Under the title of “The Paris Agenda for People and the Planet”, President Macron issued the call for building a world where poverty is eliminated and the planet preserved; a world where vulnerable countries are better equipped to face the crises from climate change and conflicts.

‏Defining the road ahead for international action following the Paris summit’s two days of in-depth discussions, President Macron asserted that the strategy for action relies on leveraging all sources of finance, development assistance and private investments.

‏“We are clear about our strategy: leverage all sources of finance, including official development assistance, domestic resources, and private investment,” the French president said, stressing the need for staying united in the endeavor to build a just and sustainable world.

‏“To deliver on our goals, we need to stay united. To prevent fragmentation, we will transform the governance of the international financial architecture to make it more efficient, more equitable, and fit for the world of today,” he added.

‏Noting that agreement had already been reached to appropriate 100 billion dollars SDR (or equivalent contributions) to be channeled to the most vulnerable countries, especially in Africa, the French president called for additional pledges.
