Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi asserted Egypt’s support for all initiatives that aim at achieving peace and stability in the South Caucasus region.
He also underlined Egypt’s full support for dialogue and negotiations to achieve just and comprehensive peace.
He lauded the progress accomplished in border demarcation between Azerbaijan and Armenia to start a new phase of development for the interest of both countries’ peoples and the whole region.
This came in Sisi’s speech during a press conference with his Azerbaijani counterpart at El Ettihadiya Palace.
President Sisi said that his talks with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev asserted keenness on boosting bilateral ties between both countries in the fields of political coordination on international and regional issues of mutual interest in addition to pushing forward economic and trade relations via benefiting from the potentials available for both countries in the fields of construction, transport, communications and information technology, food industries, medicine, oil and gas.
Sisi said that, during the meeting, they agreed on the importance of holding periodic political talks, noting that they are looking forward to the convocation of the 6th round of the Egyptian-Azerbaijani joint committee for economic, scientific and technical cooperation as soon as possible.
They also agreed on organizing the Egyptian-Azerbaijani businessmen forum to contribute to pushing the economic and trade relations forward towards more cooperation in the coming period.
Sisi reiterated that the meeting strongly tackled a host of regional files, topped by the Palestinian cause.
During the meeting, Sisi reviewed the Egyptian efforts to deliver the humanitarian aid supplies to the Gazans and reach an immediate ceasefire.
President Sisi asserted that the visit of the Azerbaijani president reflects keenness of both countries on boosting bilateral ties in the coming period.
Sisi congratulated his Azerbaijani counterpart for being re-elected for a new term.
