Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Wednesday chaired a meeting to discuss the state’s efforts to activatethe national agricultural production project “Mustaqbal Misr” (Egypt’s Future), and a host of other national projects.
The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker and Executive Director of Egypt’s Future Agency for Sustainable Development Colonel Bahaa Al-Ghannam, Presidency Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said.
President Sisi was briefed on the government’s efforts to provide electricity for these projects, Spokesman Fahmy said.
The president gave directives for the provision of all the infrastructure needed to complete the goals of these strategic projects, within the state plan to expand the area of arable land, aiming to achieve a boom to boost the state capability of protecting Egyptians’ food security, as well as increasing agricultural exports and the national income, Fahmy said.
The “Egypt’s Future” project is located within the area of the mega “The New Delta” project along the new Rod El Farag\ El Dabaa axis, near the airports of The Sphinx and Burj Al Arab, and the Dekheila and Alexandria ports. The location is likely to help facilitate the delivery of production requirements and products, as well as attracting investors.
The project aims to develop the northwestern coast region through establishing new urban and agricultural communities, in addition to industrial complexes based on full-fledged agricultural production.
In addition, “Egypt’s Future” offers hundreds of thousands of new job opportunities.
It also aims to bridge the agricultural gap at the local level, provide high quality produce at reasonable prices, and to increase exports through reclamation of 500,000 feddans.
