Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi paid a visit to the Police Academy in Abbassiya on Saturday.

Minister of Interior Mahmoud Tawfik and a number of the Police Academy senior officers received the president upon his arrival, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.

President Sisi attended personal interviews with students applying to join the Police Academy. The interviews are part of the admission tests.

The president stressed the importance of applying objective, scientific criteria and complete impartiality in selecting the best elements to join the academy.

“The objective is to prepare a generation capable of maintaining the country’s security and living up to Egyptians’ aspirations,” Ambassador Radi quoted the president as saying.

This, the president added, contributes to achieving more stability and progress, taking into consideration the responsibility of police in protecting state institutions as well as citizens’ property.

President Sisi underscored the need to continue developing the potentials of the academy to ensure that it keeps pace with the latest scientific techniques in security, legal and social fields to polish the skills of the students, the spokesman said.

The president directed the concerned officials to do a comprehensive assessment of the students’ awareness and knowledge of various national security files.

President Sisi said that this will be realised through addressing these national issues in depth within the framework of the academy’s curricula, to prepare efficient cadres with correct understanding and real knowledge of all issues on regional and international arenas.

The president called for enabling them to perform their duty in the best way while abiding by law to ensure the preservation of the nation’s security and stability, Ambassador Radi said.

He said that police forces should be a role model for the citizens.

President Sisi chatted with a group of students applying to join the Police Academy, to know their future aspirations in protecting the country’s security.

The would-be students affirmed their sincere willingness to protect the homeland, defend its institutions and build bright future for generations to come, according to Ambassador Radi.

The president held an open dialogue with the candidates and stressed that the security situation has recently undergone many changes, according to the latest developments taking place on the regional arena.

These developments, the president said, have adverse effects on many neighbouring countries in various fields.

President Sisi also listened to the candidates, who showed understanding of various internal issues in Egypt, notably population growth, mega national projects, sustainable development and the principle of the rule of law.

The president highlighted the principle of the “Rule of Law” and the importance of enforcing the law on all issues.

He also explained the state’s significant efforts in establishing giant national projects nationwide, to achieve comprehensive development.

The president praised the new applicants for their desire to gain the honour of joining the police and shouldering the responsibility of maintaining the country’s security and stability. He wished them all success in their career.
