CAIRO- Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi stressed on Monday the importance of economic co-operation between Egypt and France, saying he looks forward to developing aspects of co-operation with France in light of the strategic ties binding the two countries.

President Sisi’s remarks came during his meeting with French Minister of the Economy and Finance Bruno Le Maire in the presence of Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Finance Minister Mohamed Maait, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Amr Talaat, and Trade and Industry Minister Nevin Gamea, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said.

Sisi also urged to increase the French investments in the Egyptian market through mega national projects, asking Le Maire to convey his greetings to French President Emmanuel Macron.

Meanwhile, Le Maire conveyed Macron’s best regards to Sisi, saying his country is keen to bolster co-operation with the Egyptian government in different domains, especially in light of Egypt’s development efforts at all levels and its achievement of many economic successes.

The French minister pointed to Egypt’s pivotal role in consolidating security and stability in the Middle East and the Eastern Mediterranean, asserting his current visit to Egypt represents the real start of the actual implementation of mega projects included in the financial package for 2021-2025, signed in June last year.

The meeting touched on boosting co-operation in the sectors of transportation, electric vehicle manufacturing, infrastructure, AI, communications and digital services, waste recycling, and green hydrogen production.
