Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has called for speeding up the implementation of electricity feed projects for Sinai, since such projects constitute an essential component the area’s development.
The president’s remarks came during his meeting Monday with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli and Minister of Electricity Mohamed Shaker, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.
The meeting was called to follow up the progress of electricity feed works within the framework of both the national project for the development of Sinai and the national project for upgrading the Egyptian countryside.
In directives he gave during the meeting, President Sisi called for attaching priority to the use of electricity equipment in the manufacturing of which the local component has a large share while relying on the latest equipment, including smart electricity meters, Spokesman Radi said.
In a presentation he made during the meeting, Minister Shaker outlines the steps taken to develop the electricity feed for developmental communities in Sinai as well as the electricity sector’s preparations for the Countryside Upgrading Project.
