President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received on Monday a telephone conversation from Austrian Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg in which they tackled Egypt’s efforts to ensure the implementation of the ceasefire deal in Gaza and the delivery of humanitarian assistance to Gazans.

The president underscored the necessity of kick-starting the reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip in order to save the enclave against the catastrophe it is facing.

Presidential Spokesman Mohamed el Shennawy said that both sides welcomed progress in Egyptian-Austrian relations in different fields at present.

They added they are looking forward to building on that to promote bilateral ties strategically to achieve the interests of both states, Shenawy added.

They also underscored the need of continuing consultations regarding issues of mutual concern regionally and internationally, said the spokesman.

The Austrian chancellor commended Egypt’s non-stop efforts over the past months to support mediation and end the bloodshed.

He said Austria is appreciating the Egyptian important role in brokering the ceasefire agreement.

The contact also dealt with the situation in Syria.

President Sisi asserted Egypt’s keenness on maintaining Syria’s unity, safety, security and territorial integrity.

As well, the contact dealt with the conditions in Lebanon.

The Austrian chancellor praised Egypt’s constant efforts to maintain regional security and stability.
