Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has asserted the importance of reaching a permanent ceasefire in Gaza Strip and the entry of the largest possible volume of relief aid to meet the living needs of Gazans and reduce their huge sufferings.

During summit talks with Hungarian President Katalin Novák who was paying her first visit to Cairo on Monday, President Sisi also emphasised that the stability and security of the region are essentially linked to international recognition of the Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, Presidency Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said.

President Sisi and President Novák agreed on the necessity of seeking calm, condemning the targeting of all civilians and rejecting forced displacement, Spokesman Fahmy said, adding that the two leaders stressed the importance of averting regional expansion of the conflict.

For her part, Hungarian President Novák expressed high valuation of Egypt’s role in the promoting stability and peace in the Middle East. She also expressed her country’s appreciation of Egypt’s persistent effort to reach settlements for crises in the region, including through efforts at various international fora of relevance, Spokesman Fahmy said.

The Russian-Ukranian crisis was also considered during the Sisi-Novák summit talks, with the two leaders agreeing on the importance of an effective international move to resolve this crisis, the Presidency spokesman said. In this respect, he added, President Sisi reviewed the tremendous effects of this crisis on the economies of developing countries and emphasised the need for forwarding such political solutions that guarantee the restoration of stability in the conflict area.

At the outset of the summit meeting, President Sisi welcomed President Novák on her first visit to Egypt and lauded the strategic co-operation between the two countries, noting in this regard the historical and close dimensions of such relations in all political, economic ad cultural field, the spokesman said.
The Hungarian president, he added, expressed appreciation of the continuous development of bilateral relations and called for further co-operation between the two friendly countries.

The priorities of co-operation between Egypt and Hungary in various economic fields, including in the foremost industry, transport, tourism, communications and information technology, were considered during summit talks between the Egyptian and Hungarian leaders, Spokesman Fahmy said.

In this respect, President Sisi and President Novák agreed to work together to intensify efforts aimed at increasing the volume of trade exchanges between the two countries and promoting joint investments, the spokesman said.
