Head of the State Information Service (SIS), Ambassador Alaa Youssef, announced on Wednesday that the Service will organise a series of nationwide events across its media centres to mark the 44th anniversary of the liberation of Sinai.

This initiative forms part of the Service’s mandate to promote national awareness and foster a balanced and objective understanding of Egypt’s modern history.

SIS Head Ambassador Youssef described the anniversary as a defining moment in the history of the Egyptian state, representing the culmination of sustained military, political and diplomatic efforts.

He noted that the liberation of Sinai stands as a clear example of the state’s ability to manage complex challenges through an integrated approach combining strength, political resolve and diplomacy.

He further explained that the planned activities aim to provide younger generations with a comprehensive account of the struggle to reclaim Sinai, highlighting the scale of sacrifices made and reinforcing the importance of preserving national achievements.

The programme will include public conferences, educational seminars and dialogue sessions featuring experts and specialists, alongside documentary screenings tracing the stages of Sinai’s liberation and showcasing ongoing development efforts in the peninsula.

These initiatives reflect Sinai’s transformation from a conflict zone into a model of development and stability, SIS Head said.

He added that commemorating this occasion provides an opportunity to deepen public understanding of regional and international challenges, while encouraging a balanced national discourse that reinforces values of belonging and responsibility.

He emphasised that these efforts are aligned with the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, which prioritise building an informed and aware citizenry capable of addressing evolving challenges.
