Chairman of the State Information Service (SIS) Ambassador Alaa Youssef met on Thursday with a delegation from the Tahya Misr Youth Union to discuss co-operation on programmes aimed at reaching wider segments of young people, opening channels for dialogue, and strengthening their ability to critically assess information amid rapid developments in the digital environment.
The meeting reflects the SIS’s efforts to promote young people as active partners in building awareness, highlighting the Egyptian state’s efforts and achievements, and advancing digital literacy.
It also reflects the priority President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi places on youth empowerment and enabling young people to understand national issues and participate positively in community service, based on the view that human development is fundamental to social cohesion and national development.
During the meeting, Ambassador Youssef stressed that supporting young people requires opportunities to express their ideas, proposals and initiatives and participate constructively in serving society.
He said their energy, ideas and capabilities represent an important force in development and shaping the country’s future.
He added that raising youth awareness is an investment in human capital, requiring a sound understanding of national issues, the ability to distinguish credible information from misinformation, and the skills to navigate content across media and social media platforms effectively.
Ambassador Youssef said the SIS would expand interactive communication with young people, reaching them across governorates and the platforms they use, while identifying their key concerns and listening to their views on activities that could raise awareness of national and strategic issues. He stressed that young people should be treated as partners, rather than merely recipients, in awareness-building efforts.
Head of the Tahya Misr Youth Union Mustafa Katamesh presented an overview of the Union’s activities since its establishment, including recent initiatives, programmes and events.
The presentation coincided with the first anniversary of Ministerial Decree No. 1159 of 2025, which officially registered the Union as an independent youth entity under the Ministry of Youth and Sports. He reviewed its first-year achievements, expanded activities and future plans to sustain its momentum and generate a positive social impact.
The meeting included an open dialogue on the union’s initiatives and potential SIS activities, including seminars, discussion forums, educational sessions, training programmes, and media and digital activities focused on youth empowerment.
