Chairman of the State Information Service (SIS), Ambassador Alaa Youssef, said developing Egypt’s technical and vocational education and training system (TVET) represents a direct investment in young people by equipping them with the skills required by the labour market.
Speaking on Monday at a conference to launch the National Framework for Quality Indicators for Technical and Vocational Education and Training, Youssef said the framework represents a strategic step in line with Egypt’s efforts, under President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to invest in human capital and build young people’s capabilities.
He stressed that quality education and training goes beyond setting standards for assessment and evaluation. “It requires an integrated system capable of continuous improvement and responding to the needs of different economic sectors,” he said.
The conference was organised by The Egyptian TVET Quality Assurance and Accreditation Authority (ETQAAN), with the participation of Education Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif, ETQAAN Chairman Mohamed Moussa Emara and representatives of international development partners.
Youssef praised ETQAAN’s role, saying that despite being newly established, the authority has strengthened its institutional presence through initiatives and frameworks aimed at improving the quality of technical and vocational education and linking it more closely to labour market needs.
He added that the SIS will support ETQAAN’s efforts to raise awareness of the importance of technical and vocational education and highlight its work in quality assurance and accreditation.
Such efforts, he said, would help increase public awareness of the sector and support its mission.
