The Eastern Canal Counter-Terrorism Forces Command on Monday organised a ceremony to hand over secured contracts to the beneficiaries of lands under the jurisdiction of the General Authority for Reconstruction and Agricultural Development Projects.
The event reflected the Armed Forces’ keenness to support the vision of the Egyptian state and to co-operate with all ministries and state agencies for the development and reconstruction of the Sinai Peninsula and to provide unlimited support to the people of the Sinai and all Suez Canal governorates to participate in the development process in the peninsula, the Armed Forces spokesman said.
The ceremony began with a speech by Major General Assem Gomaa Ashour, Commander of the Eastern Canal Counter-Terrorism Forces, in which he conveyed the greetings and appreciation of Defence Minister General Mohamed Zaki and Chief-of-Staff Lieutenant General Osama Askar to the attendees.
Gen Ashour indicated the keenness of the Armed Forces on providing all aspects of support to the people of the Sinai after uprooting terrorism and beginning the era of comprehensive development in all aspects of life in accordance with an ambitious vision that seeks to build a better future and a decent life for all citizens.
This was followed by the screening of a documentary film produced by the Department of Morale Affairs, which reviewed the efforts of the Armed Forces and its participation in the development process of the Sinai Peninsula.
Agriculture and Land Reclamation Minister el-Sayed al-Quseir delivered a speech in which he outlined the state action to spread agricultural development and land reclamation projects across the land of Egypt and in Sinai in particular, adding that such action aims to achieve self-sufficiency in farm crop production and provide a surplus for export.
