CAIRO – Tiamor Abul Magd, Chairman of Silo Egypt for Food Industries Company, said the firm is established under the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi with production capacity of 750,000 tonnes of basic commodities a year.
The chairman’s remarks came on Thursday at a ceremony for opening the second stage of the Silo Foods Industries city in Sadat City in Menofiya governorate.
Abul Magd pointed out that Silo has been established to lift the burdens on citizens through providing basic commodities at reasonable prices, in addition to creating further direct and indirect job opportunities.
The establishment of the factory aims to manufacture basic commodities to meet citizens’ needs, export products to local and regional markets and upgrade nutrition systems at schools, he reiterated.
Tiamor said an integrated plan has been developed to upgrade factories and diversify products under the state-of-the-art quality standards since Sisi opened the first phase in August, 2021.
The factories of the second phase contribute to producing 200,000 tonnes of dairy products, 16,000 tons of halva, 7,800 tonnes of dunking and molding biscuit annually, in addition to a recycling station with 1,300-tonne annual production capacity to counter the negative impacts of the climate change, Tiamor added.
