Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry conferred over the phone on Sunday with UN Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen on the outcomes of the Arab liaison committee concerned with resolving the Syrian crisis, which convened in Cairo on Aug 15.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said Shoukry asserted that the committee was keen on resuming the tasks it has been assigned to settle the Syrian crisis from all aspects and maintain the unity and stability of Syria.
The two sides exchanged views on the latest developments in Syria and efforts exerted to reach a settlement for the crisis, added the spokesman.
They also agreed on arranging for a meeting on the fringe of the UN General Assembly meetings, set for September.
The UN envoy, for his part, voiced deep appreciation for the Egyptian efforts exerted to settle the Syrian crisis, praising the outcome of the Arab ministerial committee and asserted resolve to continue coordination among various parties concerned.
