Shoukri, representatives of UK business community discuss boosting economic ties

Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri held a meeting on Wednesday with representatives of the business community and financial institutions in the United Kingdom to discuss enhancing economic ties.

Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ambassador Ahmed Hafez said on his Twitter account that the meeting also took up promoting economic and investment cooperation between the two sides.

On Sunday, the foreign minister embarked on a trip to London. On Tuesday, Shoukri and UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs Liz Truss presided over the inaugural meeting of the UK-Egypt Association Council.

The inaugural Association Council created a new platform to further the ambition laid out in the UK-Egypt Association Agreement, signed in December 2020.
