Chairman of the National Press Authority (NPA) Engineer Abdel Sadek el-Shorbagy announced on Saturday that employees of national press institutions will receive a monthly salary increase of LE1,000, effective from July 1, 2026 and to be reflected in this month’s payroll.
El-Shorbagy expressed his sincere appreciation to the political leadership for its continued support of the national press and its recognition of the important national role played by state-owned media institutions in serving society and safeguarding national interests.
He also conveyed his gratitude for the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi aimed at supporting employees of national press institutions and improving their living conditions as part of the state’s broader social protection efforts.
El-Shorbagy extended his thanks to Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli for responding to the needs and aspirations of employees in national press institutions and for providing continued support to a sector he described as one of Egypt’s most important pillars of soft power.
He explained that the salary increase comes within the framework of the social protection package directed by President Sisi to alleviate economic pressures on citizens and improve income levels across a number of sectors.
NPA chairman also praised the role of Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk in supporting national press institutions and ensuring the implementation of the salary increase for employees of state-owned press organisations.
El-Shorbagy reaffirmed that the Egyptian national press will continue to fulfil its educational, informative and awareness-raising mission, serving the nation and society, reinforcing national identity and contributing to social cohesion and stability.
