The Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) is seeking to expand economic and investment co-operation with US companies, with potential projects in water desalination, solar power, clean and renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, information technology and logistics.
SCZone Chairman Mostafa Shaikhoun met Eric Gaudiosi, Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in Cairo, and his delegation on Wednesday.
The meeting focused on investment opportunities in the zone and ways to strengthen ties with the US business community.
The two sides discussed potential co-operation in several sectors, including water desalination, solar power and renewable energy. They also explored investment opportunities in pharmaceuticals, information technology, training centres, port development and logistics zones.
Shaikhoun said SCZone’s integrated infrastructure, including industrial zones, ports and logistics areas, offers a wide range of opportunities for US companies.
He stressed the authority’s interest in benefiting from US expertise and advanced technologies in areas of mutual interest.
Shaikhoun said SCZone aims to move discussions with US businesses towards concrete investment projects based on the needs of each sector.
He added that the authority is working to simplify procedures and speed up their completion to improve the investment climate and support new projects.
