Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) Walid Gamal El-Din met Indian Ambassador to Egypt Suresh K. Reddy on Tuesday to discuss ways of boosting economic and investment co-operation and explore investment opportunities across the zone, particularly in priority industrial and logistics sectors.

During the meeting, Gamal El-Din reviewed the SCZone’s success in attracting foreign direct investment, describing Indian investments as one of the leading examples of successful industrial partnerships within the zone.

He noted that Indian companies have already established strong presence in the Sokhna Industrial Zone through projects spanning a wide range of manufacturing activities, while also playing a leading role in the expansion of mining industries in the East Ismailia Industrial Zone.

Gamal El-Din said the ongoing shifts in the global economy have reinforced the SCZone’s position as an attractive investment destination, offering investors a strategic gateway for manufacturing and exports to regional and international markets.

He stressed the authority’s commitment to expanding co-operation with Indian partners and attracting more high-value industrial investments that capitalise on the zone’s competitive advantages.

For his part, Ambassador Reddy praised the SCZone’s investment potential, affirming the growing interest of Indian companies in exploring new business opportunities within the economic zone.

He expressed his hope for continued co-operation between the Indian Embassy and the SCZone to strengthen the economic partnership between Egypt and India and encourage more Indian businesses to invest in the zone and benefit from its expanding opportunities.
