Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) Mostafa Sheikhon received Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore to Egypt Dominic Goh at the Authority’s headquarters in the New Capital on Thursday to discuss strengthening economic and investment co-operation and exploring new opportunities for industrial and logistics projects. Several SCZone executive leaders attended the meeting.
Sheikhon highlighted the SCZone’s strategic investment advantages, including its industrial zones, integrated ports, logistics services and range of investment incentives.
He stressed that the integration of these capabilities strengthens the Zone’s capacity to attract high-quality investments, facilitate trade and support regional and global supply chains.
He noted that the transformation of global supply chains and the growing focus on nearshoring are creating fresh opportunities for the SCZone, given its strategic location, integrated infrastructure and network of trade agreements providing access to extensive regional and international markets.
Sheikhon also pointed to Singapore’s established expertise in industry, logistics and port management, describing these strengths as a strong foundation for deeper co-operation and knowledge exchange.
He reaffirmed SCZone’s commitment to attracting more Singaporean companies, particularly to priority sectors among the 21 sectors identified by the Authority for localisation and the deepening of domestic manufacturing.
Ambassador Goh, for his part, praised the SCZone’s strategic location and integrated industrial, transport and logistics capabilities, underscoring the importance of its investment opportunities.
He identified promising potential for expanded co-operation in areas including water desalination, renewable energy and green fuel.
The ambassador further stressed the importance of sustained co-ordination between the two sides to promote these opportunities and encourage Singaporean companies to invest in the Zone.
Such co-operation, he noted, would strengthen Egypt-Singapore economic and investment ties while creating new partnerships in high-value-added sectors.
