CAIRO – President of the International Sambo Federation (FIAS) Vasily Shestakov has praised the successful organization of the African Sambo Championship, hosted by Egypt between June and July.
He lauded the warm hospitality offered by Egypt for all participants in this sporting event.
He also extended thanks to the Egyptian government over the great and successful organization of the tournament under the patronage of Sports and Youth Minister Ashraf Sobhi and president of the Egyptian Kickboxing and Sambo Federation Mohamed Sobeih.
Egypt hosted the 2021 edition of the tournament for the first time in its history after Sambo has been designated as part of the Egyptian Kickboxing Federation committees.
18 countries competed at the championship across men’s and women’s sports sambo, men’s combat sambo and men’s and women’s beach sambo categories.
The “medical bubble” system was applied during the tournament as part of anti-coronavirus measures.
