The Egyptian Pharmaceutical City (GYPTO Pharma) welcomed on Wednesday Head of the Rwanda Food and Drugs Authority, Professor Emile Bienvenu, and his accompanying delegation, alongside representatives of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), as part of efforts to strengthen pharmaceutical co-operation and exchange expertise between Egypt and Rwanda.

The visit took place on the sidelines of the fifth edition of the Africa Health ExCon 2026 Conference and Exhibition, held in Egypt at present, and reflects the shared commitment of both countries to enhancing collaboration in the pharmaceutical sector and supporting healthcare development across the African continent.

During the visit, GYPTO Pharma Chairman and Managing Director Dr Amr Mamdouh praised the strong co-operation between EDA and pharmaceutical regulatory bodies across Africa, particularly the Rwanda Food and Drugs Authority, noting that such collaboration contributes to improving access to safe, effective and high-quality medicines throughout the continent.

He also highlighted GYPTO Pharma’s previous engagement with Rwanda, including a visit in 2023 and the commencement of pharmaceutical exports to the country.

He further affirmed GYPTO Pharma’s readiness to support Rwanda through the supply of essential medicines and co-operation in local pharmaceutical manufacturing initiatives.

Dr Mamdouh also congratulated the Rwanda Food and Drugs Authority on obtaining World Health Organisation accreditation, describing it as an important achievement that will further strengthen the country’s regulatory framework.

For his part, Head of the Rwanda Food and Drugs Authority, Professor Emile Bienvenu, expressed his admiration for the advanced industrial infrastructure, production capabilities, research and development facilities and quality systems implemented at GYPTO Pharma.

He commended the expertise of the company’s specialised teams and expressed his interest in expanding co-operation to make GYPTO Pharma products more widely available in Rwanda, while exploring opportunities for joint manufacturing and long-term partnership.
