Russian Ambassador in Cairo Georgy Borisenko said President Abdel Fattah El Sisi is always a guest of honor to Russia and will be welcomed by his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin during his visit to Saint Petersburg city as he will attend the 2nd Africa-Russia Summit.
The Russian diplomat told MENA on Wednesday that the upcoming talks between the two presidents in Saint Petersburg are an ideal opportunity to probe all international and regional issues and the latest developments of Russian-Egyptian cooperation.
He expected the talks, to be held at the level of the Summit will give a new momentum to bilateral cooperation between the two countries in all fronts.
Egypt and Russia celebrate this year the 80th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries, he further mentioned.
The Russian diplomat underscored the importance that President Sisi leads the Egyptian delegation to the Summit.
Speaking about the Summit’s action program, Borisenko said President Putin will take part in the general session of the Economic and Humanitarian Forum, that will be held on the sidelines of the Summit on Thursday.
The Russian leader will have bilateral meetings with all African leaders on the sidelines of the Summit and hold a luncheon banquet for heads of state and chairmen of African organizations and a reception in the evening, according to him.
The Summit will include the convocation of several roundtables on various vistas of Russian-African cooperation, said the ambassador.
A special session will be held on the situation in Ukraine later in the day, he added.
