The New Suez Canal has greately contributed to facilitating the navigation movement when the Ukranian ship, Glory, suffered an engine problem while crossing the waterway, said Head of the Suez Canal Authority Osama Rabie.
In statements to Egypt’s TV channel I Tuesday, Rabie said the Ukranian ship did not run aground but it suffered an engine malfunction that affected the navigation for three hours .
He said the Canal rescue teams are ready round the clock to deal with such incidents.
Suez Canal authority dealt professionally with the sudden malfunction of engines in cargo vessel Glory near kilometre 38 at the canal’s course.
Rabie said that traffic was moving normally on the Suez canal after the authority had mobilised four tugboats to tow the ship, allowing it to resume its journey.
“The canal is on track to register 51 vessels passing in both directions on Monday,” he said.
