Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty attended a meeting of the R4 group in Istanbul on Friday, bringing together Egypt, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan for consultations on regional and international developments.
The meeting discussed the latest situation in the region amid the possibility of military escalation, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nader Zaki said.
Abdelatty stressed the need to intensify efforts and act urgently to contain tensions, resume dialogue and diplomacy, and reject military solutions, which could have serious security, political and economic consequences for the region and the world, Zaki said.
The four ministers agreed on the importance of swiftly reaching political and diplomatic solutions to ongoing crises and working to de-escalate tensions.

They also condemned attacks targeting Saudi Arabia and expressed full solidarity with the kingdom, supporting its security, stability, sovereignty and territorial integrity. They rejected any actions that could threaten its security or undermine regional stability.
The ministers stressed the need to ensure freedom of maritime navigation and the safety of international shipping lanes, describing them as fundamental to regional stability, the global economy, supply-chain security and international trade. They warned of the serious consequences of threats to vital sea routes.
The meeting also discussed ways to strengthen co-operation among the participating countries in political, economic, technological and military fields, support regional security and stability, improve co-ordination in addressing current challenges, and expand co-operation on the countries’ shared interests.
