President Abdel Fattah El‑Sisi met in New Alamein with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Electricity Minister Mahmoud Asmat, and Concord Engineering Chairman Ahmed El‑Abd to follow up on Egypt’s national strategy for expanding new and renewable energy projects.
The plan targets raising renewable energy’s share to 45% of total generation by 2028, with a parallel focus on battery storage systems to secure the national grid and ensure stable supply. Asmat noted that total investments in electricity and renewables since 2014 have reached around LE 5 trillion.
Discussions also covered the role of international partners in providing technical and financial support, reinforcing Egypt’s position as a regional hub for energy and electrical equipment manufacturing. The President stressed the importance of partnerships that utilise locally manufactured components, especially storage batteries, and highlighted the need to localise industries linked to renewables as a pillar of energy security and the green transition.
President Sisi further directed efforts to expand local manufacturing in black sand industries, fertilisers and rare earth elements, underlining their added value to the electricity and renewable energy sector.
