Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Saturday received visiting Turkish Foreign Affairs Minister Hakan Fidan for talks on a number of key regional files.

During a meeting, in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigrations and Egyptian Extradites Badr Abdelatty, President Sisi reviewed Egypt’s vision and efforts to achieve peace and stability in Libya, Syria and Sudan

Both sides emphasized the importance of respecting the sovereignty of these states and preserving their territorial integrity.

Fidan conveyed the greetings of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to President Sisi, who expressed his appreciation for the gesture and underscored the importance of strengthening bilateral relations.

The president highlighted remarkable progress in Egyptian-Turkish ties, especially following the signing of the joint declaration in February 2024 to reactivate the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council meetings and elevate them to the level of the two heads of state.

The meeting reaffirmed the mutual commitment to boosting economic cooperation between Egypt and Turkey, with a target of reaching $15 billion in bilateral trade, in line with the agreement reached during President Sisi’s visit to Ankara in September 2024, according to Presidential Spokesman Mohamed el Shennawy.

The meeting highlighted the importance of expanding Turkish companies participation in Egypt’s investment projects.

The meeting discussed key regional issues, particularly the situation in the Gaza Strip, with both sides reaffirming rejection of any re-imposition of military occupation in the Strip.

They called for an immediate ceasefire, the delivery of humanitarian aid and the release of hostages and detainees, while stressing their opposition to the displacement of Palestinian from their homeland, the spokesman added.
